I finally managed a trip to the mainland for a visit to BB and Reifel's on Tuesday. I was amazed at the number of Shorties and Harriers even thought they weren't all that cooperative for good photos. They were hunting the fields and marsh all day but wouldn't come very close to the trail. We did manage a few shots of the Snowies and I was surprised at how many of the Snowies are just sitting on the roofs of the greenhouses.
Reifel's was great as well but the main purpose for going there was to get a look at a Saw-whet Owl. We managed to see 3 of them but they were so well hidden it was difficult to get any kind of a photo. I did manage a few shots of one of them kind of showing half of his body.
Over all it was a great trip, both locations are fantastic locations for bird photographers.
A few Snowies around but not like last year.
This guy was a real poser.
Just for fun I did this Shortie in monochrome.
Drake Wood Duck that kept following me around.
These little guys really know how to hide.
