This bird was found on August 22, 2022 on my balcony at 12th floor in New Westminster, BC. The bird was released immediately.
Is it a merlin?

Peregrine…they like being in high places so the 12th floor would make sense. Glad you could release him and he was OK.

Correct. This is a Merlin.

With the wide malar stripe and fleshy eye ring it led me to think it was a Peregrine, however, it is a little small for a PEFA but I thought that could be the camera angle.
