We spotted this tiny little bird on Dec. 31, 2021 near Sooke River. It was hopping here and there on the snow picking little things. It is the first time that we have seen such a bird in our 10 years of residence in Sooke. Can you help identify it?

Thank you, Merlinator! It seems that we were lucky to see the ruby crown patch in the middle of winter. I am passing the link you sent to our grand-son who is a fan of nature.
