Now the snow has disappeared, this may not be a problem but after our first snow fall Dec 9, two black bear came down looking for apple trees and garbage cans. They seem to be the run-away variety. Just be a little cautious if out over Christmas. Meadowbrook is between Prospect Lake and Mount Work Regional Park and Stratford is just off Interurban (past Camosun College Interurban running to Viaduct Flats Rd W.) I met a woman in SEW whose daughter, husband & 2 little girls just moved into a house on Stratford Dec 1. they cleaned up some apples on the property and threw them in the garbage can, not tying the lid down. the next morning, the garbage was overturned and there was bear scat. Most of the Parks in Saanich have old apple trees but hopefully, with the snow gone, the bears have returned to higher ground.
