Bitterns are hard to see at Reifel at the best of times, I think because of the high tide & strong winds yesterday it forced a few close to the outer trail. I was walking along when 1 flushed, walked a bit more & a 2nd one flushed, a bit further & a 3rd one flushed! I was so startled each time that I barely got a shot off, so its not the best quality, but I've never seen one in flight before! :D

Nice photo. I really like American Bittern's, I think they are so neat looking.
