Here are a couple of in-flight shots I got at Blackie Spit, today. It's not camera shake in the photo, it's camera shiver. I could barely pull the shutter, but the Avocet is a lifer for me.

Gorgeous shots Wes! I love the 1st Avocet shot (saw it on flickr). I have yet to see one of these, hopefully it will hang around for a while! :D

Thanks for the compliments.

I'm going to repost the 1st shot. I made a revision and there is no way to update the reference on this site.

Paul, I had no idea that the Avocet was even at Blackie Spit. I know someone had seen it in Mud Bay. Yesterday, I saw a guy with a 600mm taking photos, out where the Curlew usually resides, and asked him what he was shooting. When he told me the Avocet I was thrilled. There was also a Eurasian Wigeon in the same location. I didn't get a photo of it.

Hopefully, he hangs around long enough for you to get a look.

Wes

good news, the last month has been a wash for me as far as shooting anything meaningful, the weather, short daylight hours after work and endless home renovations have left me out of the loop.
need to get out soon though, before i go crazy
