went out on Friday afternoon to Iona to see about the Black-necked Stilt but I was a day late.
No big deal as the warbler action along the fence line was incredible, loads of Y-R warblers and my first Wilson's warblers of the year.
A birder I met called them "Willie Warblers" and I thought that was a pretty good name for them.

Saturday morning I headed off to Riefel first thing in the morning and did a walk around, eventually hooking up with a couple of other photographers I know for another quick walk-through.

very excited to spot a Ruddy duck in one of the ponds.

getting Woody at Reifel is par for course.

After Reifel I headed back to Iona, mostly because I wanted a re-match with the Common Yellowthroat but again I failed to get anything decent.
ended up settling for another Willie Warbler and long-range Blue-winged Teal.
It was a pleasure to meet a few new people along the way and I even got to chat with forum member Amblesidebirder :)

Sunday, before heading over to mom's, Audy and I stopped off at Serpentine Fen and were not disappointed.
I was able to get some decent shots of our first Black-headed Grosbeak of the year.

Thanks for looking :)

Awesome pictures Paul...I love the 'Willy Warbler' and Black Headed Grosbeak.

It was a pleasure to meet you and have a little chat at Iona. What a difference a day makes (in in a birders world minutes sometimes). Spent all that time yesterday at Serpentine and didn't see a Black Headed Grosbeak. If it makes you feel better I didn't find the Black-neck-Stilt at Iona either.

This is a very nice series of six, Revs, and of course
we expect no less from you.

Very difficult to choose any particular one from any
particular other.

But if required, I would choose the first, fifth and sixth;
and of these three would take the first, partly because
the warbler is out-posing the others.

Cheers,

Absolutely wonderful series of images Paul.

Looks like you're covering quite a bit of ground these days :)

Great shots of the "willie" warbler.

Cheers
