At 2pm today Cos van Wermeskerken found a Ruddy Turnstone on the beach at the base of the White Rock pier.

He got a great photo of it too:

This morning the RUTU was found about 100 meters to the east of the actual white rock as I was helped by another birder.

Brian Stech, Wayne Weber and I just had the Ruddy Turnstone 100m past the white rock which is to the east of the white rock pier, just before noon. He is with Killdeer and Black Turnstones.

Cheers,
Mel

At 11:30 am the RUTU was seen on the small beach directly to the right of the pier. There is steps down from the pier to this tiny beach.

Cheers,
Mel

While seeing the Ruddy Turnstone this afternoon young birder Katya Kondratyuk with George Clulow and Rob Lyske had 2 Eared Grebes off the White Rock pier breakwater. This is the best place to see them close during winter, especially for photos. You can see them off the ferry jetty too for example but usually not close enough for pics.

Here is a nice shot Katya got today of one:
