I was photographing trumpeter swans from Lochside Drive, Central Saanich on Saturday, Jan 9, 2021 and realized that interspersed among the Trumpeters were white birds much smaller. Suddenly the snow geese took flight and I started taking photos. I counted 16. They seemed to be flying southward, and did not return to the trumpeter swans. Wonderful!

Good spotting. I saw these birds hiding in the flock of Trumpeters the other day. Not many have reported the snow geese on eBird recently.

Thanks Kevin. I've always loved birds of any kind, but just recently confirmed I'm a birder. It was a thrill to see the Snow Geese, it was just the 2nd time.
