Jan 9, 2018 Swan Lake-the industrious and optimistic Anna's hummingbirds are already building nests ( I think). Got a couple shots of a female pausing on a bush with a spider web trailing from her beak. She waited for me to pass, then flew to a tree by the houses on the service road across the north field that leads to Christmas Hill.
I have seen anna's on eggs on Rockland Ave going towards Gov't House survive snow storms in Feb before. It looks like an early Spring for Victoria. The weather forecasts for Feb show only one bit of snow Feb 7th and reasonable temperatures.
Keep your eye on the anna's if you see them. There seems to be a beehive of activity.
