Greater Victoria, Gulf Islands, Cowichan Valley, Nanaimo and Centrial Island, Port Alberni, Tofino, North Island

I am visiting southern Vancouver island for a few days June 9th to 12th with wife and wanted to check out local birds in breeding season. I live in Delta, BC.

Is there any birding group, or weekly birding trip that I might contact & perhaps join them one of these days?

Alternately, any help appreciated on are the areas I might target myself.

Hi Tony,

The Victoria Natural History Society is heading to Jordan River area on Saturday, June 10th.

This is probably the best group trip offered. Contact the VNHS to see if you can join the group.

Next best bet is the Sunday morning group walk at Swan Lake Nature reserve.

If we decide to explore on your own, I would suggest the following locations:

Goldstream Heights
Munn Rd. Power Lines / Pike Lake substation
Early morning @ Dallas Rd. Waterfront (Clover Pt. / Ogden Pt. Breakwater)
Observatory Hill

Check the Hotspot list and Recent Sighting lists to find out what is being spotted and where: ... ?yr=all&m= ... -CP?yr=all
