It's hard to pick just a few, but I really enjoyed Roger Tory Peterson's 'All Things Considered'. I haven't quite completed 'In the Field, Among the Feathered', which is a history of field guides and early birding by Thomas R. Dunlap. It is just fascinating!

Also 'Good Birders Don't Wear White' was a really fun read and useful too. It's a collection of short essays from folks like Sibley, Kaufman, the Stokes, Julie Zickefoose, etc.

This is a great thread--thanks to everybody who has contributed thus far. I will HAVE to look for some of these books!
