This is a re-post of the earlier post where the images did not show.

I took these two pictures yesterday out near Discovery Island (Victoria BC). The first picture is pair of male and female surf scoters. The second picture is of 3 similar birds to the female surf scoter in the first picture except the bills are different and two of the birds do not have a white patch on the back of the head. Can anyone confirm that these are female surf scoters as well?

I think these are surf scoters as well but the bills do not match the previous photo and two of them do not have white patches on the back of their heads.

Yes, these are juvenile Surf Scoters - males.
It’s probably camera angle that’s making the beaks look so different.
